Opt-Outs & Compliance
Sellify GPT takes SMS compliance seriously. We help you respect contact preferences and follow regulations like the TCPA.
How Opt-Outs Work
When a contact sends the word STOP in a text message, they're opting out of SMS communication. Here's what happens:
- Sellify GPT automatically detects the STOP keyword
- The contact is marked as "Do Not SMS"
- You cannot send SMS messages to that contact anymore
- Attempting to send triggers a warning: "This contact has opted out"
This protects you from compliance violations and respects the contact's preferences.
Opt-Out Status
On a contact's profile, you'll see a "Do Not SMS" indicator if they've opted out. This appears in:
- The contact's details panel
- The SMS compose window (warning)
- The SMS thread (note at top)
Quiet Hours
Sellify GPT respects quiet hours—times when you shouldn't contact people by SMS. By default:
- Messages don't send between 9 PM and 9 AM in the contact's timezone
- If you try to send outside quiet hours, the system asks to confirm
- You can override this if necessary (though not recommended)
Always respect quiet hours to maintain good relationships and follow TCPA guidelines.
Opt-In Records
Maintain records showing you have permission to text each contact. Sellify GPT logs:
- When the contact was added
- How they opted in (form signup, verbal consent, etc.)
- All SMS activity
These records protect you in case of compliance questions.
Do Not SMS Indicators
Contacts with "Do Not SMS" flags cannot receive text messages. If a contact:
- Has explicitly opted out (sent STOP)
- Is on a national do-not-call registry
- Requested removal via another channel
They'll be marked appropriately in the system.
Double-check compliance settings with your admin, especially if you're in regulated industries like finance or healthcare.
